ModernBusiness | Business Manager is a model-driven Power App built on Microsoft Dataverse. The application helps businesses manage Accounts and Contacts, track activities such as emails, tasks, phone calls, and appointments. It also includes a unique feature that allows you to automatically update Account and Contact information based on data from ABN Lookup.
The ABN Lookup allows you to easily and efficiently do searches on ABN Lookup using the Australian Business Number (ABN).
Instead of manually entering business details under the ABN details on an account record, you can enter the ABN number of the entity you looking for into the ABN Lookup component. From that point onwards, you can retrieve the latest details from ABN Lookup with the press of the save button.
Import the downloaded solution into the appropriate environment.
Select ModernBusiness | Business Manager solution and open in edit mode and publish all customizations
Head back to Power Apps home page and click on “Apps”. Select the ellipse to the right of “ModernBusiness | Business Manager” app and select “Play”. Make sure you are have been assigned either “System Administrator” or “ModernBusiness | Business Manager” role.
Once the Business Manager Model Driven App is running, head to the “Settings” page.
Create a new record and enter your GUID you received from the “Australian Government – Australian Business Register” (ABR)
Depending on what information is returned from the ABR you may wish to set a further 3 options:
Allow to Update Account – This will update the Account Name field in your Accounts table
Allow to Update Contact – This will update/set the Primary Contact field in the Accounts table
ABN Override
The resulting screen:
Navigate to your Environment and open the “ModernBusiness | Business Manager” under Apps and go to the Accounts records.
Add a new record, fill out all required fields and include the ABN Number
Click the “Save” button.
You will see the below details appear that are relevant to that ABN number
NOTE: If you check the “Allow to Update Account” was set to “Yes” at step 6 of “How to implement the plugin”, when you save, the “Account Name” would be updated to reflect returned registered “ABN Name”. This aids in speedier and accurate record keeping. Please also note that this will change the Account Name environment wide.
After downloading the application, you will need to register with Australian Government – Australian Business Register and subscribe to their Web services registration service. Once registered you will receive an ABN subscription ID.
